Bay Area Plastic Surgery Procedures
Walnut Creek and Greenbrae plastic surgeon Dr. Aycock offers a full range of plastic surgery procedures for the face, breast, and body, as well as non-surgical procedures such as Botox and injectable fillers.
BREAST PLASTIC SURGERY
• Breast Enlargement
Is a surgical procedure to enhance the size and shape of a woman's breasts. Breast augmentation surgery is a personal decision that women make for a number of reasons; some common reasons for a woman to choose breast implant surgery include: To enhance body contour. To restore breast volume after pregnancy. To balance a difference in breast size. As a reconstructive technique following mastectomy
• Breast Lift
It's a simple fact of life that a woman's breasts will begin to sag over time. Pregnancy and breastfeeding can speed the process, but eventually every woman's breasts will lose their youthful shape and firmness. Breast lift surgery, also called mastopexy, is a surgical procedure in which a woman's breasts are reshaped and lifted to a higher position on the chest. During breast lift surgery, Dr. Aycock can also reduce the size of the areola, the dark skin surrounding the nipple. If you are interested in increasing your breast size as well as improving their position, then you may wish to consider breast implant surgery in addition to a breast lift. Breast lift surgery is commonly sought by women whose breasts have been stretched by pregnancy and breastfeeding. Breast lift surgery should not affect a woman's ability to breastfeed in the future, but subsequent pregnancies can cause the breasts to stretch again, requiring a second breast lift. Therefore, breast lift surgery is most effective in woman who will not be having more children in the future.
• Breast Reduction
Although many women complain about having small breasts, there are others who have the opposite problem: overly large breasts. As these women know, large breasts can cause neck and back pain, skin irritation under the breast crease, and even breathing problems. Additionally, bra straps can also create shoulder pain, and very large breasts can get in the way of physical activity. Large breasts can also cause women and teenage girls feel self-conscious about their bodies, and plastic surgery can help correct all of these problems. During breast reduction surgery, Dr. Aycock removes excess skin, glandular tissue, and fat from the breasts, as well as reducing the size of the dark skin surrounding the nipple, known as the areola. The intent of breast reduction surgery is to create smaller, firmer, lighter, and more shapely breasts that are more proportionate to the rest of a woman's body. In your initial consultation with Bay Area surgeon Dr. Aycock, it is important to discuss your expectations frankly, as every patient - and every physician, as well - has a different view of what is a desirable size and shape for breasts.
• Breast Reconstruction
Breast reconstruction is performed to replicate the shape and size of the breast after mastectomy or lumpectomy.
BODY PLASTIC SURGERY
Liposuction is one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures performed in the United States. Liposuction surgery allows for effective removal of fat from the abdominal area, hips, buttocks, and thighs. Liposuction can also be used to remove smaller amounts of fat in areas of the neck, face, and arms. Although liposuction is not a substitute for diet and exercise, it can be helpful in removing stubborn areas of fat. Liposuction can be performed alone or in conjunction with another plastic surgery procedure, such as tummy tuck, buttock lift, arm lift, neck lift, or facelift.
• Tummy Tuck
Tummy tuck, also called abdominoplasty, is a surgical procedure through which excess fat and skin are removed from the abdominal area to create a slimmer, more fit body contour. Women often elect for tummy tuck surgery following pregnancy, as the abdominal muscles and skin can be stretched during pregnancy. These muscles and skin can be tightened and fat deposits removed during the tummy tuck procedure, allowing a woman to return to her pre-pregnancy shape. Both men and women find abdominoplasty to be helpful in restoring a more youthful body contour when the abdominal skin becomes lax as a result of aging, or as a result of being overweight. Loss of skin elasticity is especially common in people who have lost a lot of weight, a problem that can be corrected with tummy tuck surgery. Tummy tuck surgery may be performed alone or in combination with liposuction or other body contouring procedures for complete body sculpting.
• Buttock Lift
Buttock lift surgery is becoming more popular as people lose weight after bariatric / gastric bypass surgery. After massive weight loss, there is often excess skin around the buttock and thigh area that can be removed through body lift plastic surgery. People also choose buttock or thigh lift surgery if the skin in that area is flabby, saggy, dimpled, or has an orange peel appearance. Many people, both men and women, are better able to fit into clothes following body lift surgery, and also experience improved self esteem. If you would like to combine a buttock lift with complete lower body contouring, then leg / thigh lift and tummy tuck may compliment a buttock lift. Buttock lift plastic surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia. A number of variations in incision location are possible, and San Francisco surgeon Dr. Aycock will help you determine the option that is best for you. Dr. Aycock will show you what specific procedures are available to solve your particular concerns. Complimentary procedures include Leg Lift, Arm Lift, Tummy Tuck, and Liposuction.
• Leg Lift
Thigh lift surgery is becoming more popular as people lose weight after bariatric / gastric bypass surgery. After massive weight loss, there is often excess skin around the thigh and leg area that can be removed through body lift plastic surgery. People also choose thigh lift plastic surgery if the skin in that area is flabby, saggy, dimpled, or has an orange peel appearance. Many people, both men and women, are better able to fit into clothes following body lift surgery, and also experience improved self esteem. If you would like to combine a thigh lift with complete lower body contouring, then buttock lift and tummy tuck may compliment a thigh lift.
• Arm Lift
The natural aging process, genetics, and weight loss can cause the skin around the upper arms to sag. Once the skin has been stretched, arm lift plastic surgery can return the arms to a more youthful contour. Upper arm lift, also called brachioplasty, is typically performed under general anesthesia. San Francisco surgeon, Dr. Aycock will make an incision from the elbow to the armpit, remove the excess skin, and suture the arm skin back together along the incision line. Although the incision is in an inconspicuous place, some scarring will always be visible.
• Post Bariatric Surgery
You've done the hard part by losing the weight, and now you're wondering how to reach your final goal of a new body image. Many people are surprised after losing weight that their bodies don't look the way they expected. Loose, sagging skin is a common problem for massive weight loss patients, but fortunately, post bariatric surgery can help you achieve your dreams. San Francisco surgeon Dr. Aycock will take the time to carefully evaluate your situation and help you decide which post bariatric surgery or surgeries are required to create the shape you've worked so hard to achieve. Dr. Aycock performs all surgeries in his state-of-the-art facility in Walnut Creek with highly trained assistants. Some of the more common surgeries used for body contouring after massive weight loss are as follows:
Enlarged inner genital lips (labia minora) can be functionally or emotionally bothersome for some women. Enlarged labia can occur for a number of reasons: age, childbirth, hormones, and sexual intercourse, or genetics. This problem can cause local irritation, which can interfere with sexual intercourse and cause discomfort during other activities like cycling, walking, or sitting. Labiaplasty surgically reshapes or reduces the external appearance of the vagina. The purpose of labiaplasty surgery is to enhance a woman's vaginal appearance and/or sexual gratification. San Francisco surgeon Dr. Aycock performs vaginal surgery in his two Bay Area plastic surgery facilities.
• Gynecomastia - Male Breast Reduction
Men who are uncomfortable with their chest contour might consider male breast reduction surgery. Some men have larger than average breasts due to genetics or the aging process. After weight loss, some men may have sagging or excess skin in the chest area that can be removed through the chest contouring process. Whatever the cause, the purpose of male chest contouring surgery is to create a flatter and more masculine chest appearance
FACIAL PLASTIC SURGERY
As we age, our skin elasticity diminishes, creating wrinkles, creases, folds, and fat deposits on the face and neck. Sun exposure, stress, and genetics can all contribute to the aging process, as well. Although a facelift can't stop the aging process, it can help you look years younger. As facelift techniques improve and recovery time decreases, patients are choosing to have facelifts at a younger age than ever before.
• Neck Lift
A neck lift can be one of the simplest facial plastic surgery procedures, yet one with the most dramatic results. As we age, loose skin, wrinkles, and fat deposits can form under the chin and around the neck, creating a flabby appearance. By removing excess skin under the chin and in the front of the neck, San Francisco surgeron Dr. Aycock can help you look younger by giving your neck a more youthful contour. People are often self-conscious about sagging neck skin, and look and feel significantly younger after surgery
• Brow Lift
The brow or forehead is often the area of the face to show the most obvious signs of aging and stress. Frown lines between the eyes, brow furrows, drooping eyebrows, and excess skin over the eyes are all common conditions that can be corrected by brow lift surgery also know as a forehead lift. Whether these features are caused by age, heredity, stress, or sun exposure, a forehead lift can create a more youthful and relaxed appearance.
• Eyelid Lift
Eyelid lift (also called blepharoplasty) is commonly performed to remove bags under the eyes or correct drooping eyelids, conditions that can make you look years older than you really are. Sometimes, droopy eyelids can and even impair your vision. Eyelid lift surgery may be recommended for anyone with baggy eyes or drooping eyelids who wants to look younger and more alert. It is also helpful for patients whose vision is impaired by droopy eyelids.
• Nose Reshaping - Rhinoplasty
Nose reshaping surgery (rhinoplasty) is one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures in the U.S. Nose enhancement is commonly performed for any of the following reasons: Reduce nose size, Modify nose shape (including nose angle, slope, or nose tip or bridge shape), Reduce or modify nostril shape and size, Restore appearance following a nose injury, Correct appearance resulting from a birth defect, Improve breathing.
• Ear Reshaping - Otoplasty
Ear reshaping surgery (also known as ear pinning) is usually performed to reduce the size or prominence of the ears. Otoplasty is often performed on children after the age of four. However, many adults choose ear reshaping surgery to rectify life-long concerns and improve self-image. Most patients, young and old alike, are thrilled with the results of ear surgery. San Francisco surgeon Dr. Aycock takes plenty of time with his patients before surgery to answer any questions and help resolve any concerns. He is especially careful in helping children feel comfortable with surgery.
• Cheek Implants
High cheekbones are a defining characteristic of a sophisticated appearance, but not everyone is born with perfect facial bone structure. However, cheek implant surgery (cheek augmentation) can enhance cheek contours, creating a look that you have always hoped for. Small or asymmetrical cheek structure is typically a result of genetics, but aging can also reduce cheek tissue. Cheek implants can be used to improve facial symmetry, and to create a more youthful, refined appearance.
• Chin Implant
If your chin recedes or looks too small in proportion to the rest of your face, then a chin implant may create a more balanced facial appearance. A small chin may also cause your nose to appear too long, and chin enhancement can help the nose look proportionate to the rest of the face.
• Lip Augmentation
Full, plump lips have long been considered attractive in our culture, but not everyone was born with sexy lips. If you are not satisfied with the appearance of your lips, now you have the power to do something about it. You have a number of lip enhancement options to choose from for improving the shape and size of your lips. Dr. Aycock will advise you on the surgical procedure or injectable filler that will work best to create the look you want. Lip augmentation is typically performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia, unless other procedures, such as a facelift, are performed at the same time. You can expect to be fully recovered from lip augmentation surgery within a week, after which your lips will feel normal and look marvelous.
• Fat Injections - Fat Transfer
If you have deep wrinkles, depressed scars, or indentations in your skin, then fat injections (or fat transfers) may be an option for you. Fat injection works similarly to bovine-based collagen injections, but eliminates the risk of an allergic reaction since fat cells are used from your own body for transfer to the face. Fat tranfers can also be used for lip enhancement.
• Non-Surgical Facial Rejuvenation
Non-surgical procedures can be used alone or in conjunction with plastic surgery to create a more youthful appearance. Injectable wrinkle fillers can reduce facial wrinkles and folds, while microdermabrasion and chemical peels can even out skin tone and produce a youthful glow. San Francisco Dr. Aycock can explain your wrinkle treatment and skin care options to you during your consultation.
