What is breast augmentation?
Also known as augmentation mammoplasty, the procedure involves using implants for fuller breasts or to restore breast volume lost after weight reduction or pregnancy. In addition, breast implants may be used to reconstruct a breast after mastectomy or injury.
What is a breast lift?
Following pregnancy or weight loss, the breasts may sag. The mastopexy procedure lifts the breast by repositioning the breast tissue and allowing the skin to re-drape in its new position. This also raises the height of the nipple and areola, which produces a more youthful contour to the breast. Some patients desire more fullness in their breasts, and breast augmentation can be performed simultaneously with the lift procedure.
Why do some women want a breast reduction?
Women with large breasts may experience back, neck, and shoulder pain, rashes beneath the breasts, and indentations on the shoulders from their bra straps. A breast reduction procedure removes excess glandular tissue and skin from the breasts. The areola, which is the dark skin around the nipple, is also reduced in size. The goal of a breast reduction is to produce breasts that are smaller, lifted, and more proportional to the patient's body.
What is gynecomastia?
Gynecomastia is defined as enlarged or excess male breast tissue and fat, and may affect only one breast or both. While various medications have been associated with this condition, in most cases there is no known cause. Many men feel self-conscious about the size of their breasts, and a reduction procedure can help by removing glandular tissue and sometimes excess skin from the breasts. The result is a flatter, firmer chest with an improved contour.
What is liposuction?
Liposuction is a procedure that can sculpt the body by reducing the size of areas with excess fat, including the hips, thighs, buttocks, abdomen, upper arms, and neck. It can address areas that do not respond well to weight loss or exercise, but it is not a weight reduction procedure. The best candidates for liposuction are patients with good skin tone (elasticity), who have areas of excess fat in localized regions. It may be performed on several areas of the body at the same time, and it can be combined with other procedures.
What is a tummy tuck?
After pregnancy or weight loss, excess skin and fat can distort the appearance of the abdomen. The abdominoplasty, or "tummy tuck" procedure, creates a flatter, firmer abdomen by removing excess fat and skin, and tightening the abdominal muscles.
When should I think about getting a body lift?
Following significant weight loss, some patients experience excessive hanging skin in their abdomen, inner thighs, arms, breasts, and buttocks and even face. In the abdomen, the hanging skin can lead to rashes and infections between skin folds. The belt lipectomy removes this excessive soft tissue from the abdomen and back, while lifting the lateral thighs and buttocks. The result is a smooth contour and more natural appearance. Patients must have attained a stable weight to be candidates for this procedure. Additional procedures to correct sagging skin in the inner thighs, breasts, arms, and face are done separately with at least three months allowed between operations.
Am I a good candidate for the VASER Lipo procedure?
Whether you'd like to lose a few pounds in traditional areas — your waist, thighs and bottom — or finely sculpt your arms, neck or chest, VASER Lipo gives you the results you want.
